The 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit (Tue, Nov 19 – Fri, Nov 22)

The 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, themed "Embracing a People-Centered and AI-for-Good Digital Future - Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace," has taken place from Nov 19 to 22 in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province.

President Xi Jinping gave a congratulation speech via video to the 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit on Wednesday, November 20.

Noting that a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation is rapidly advancing, Xi urged efforts to embrace the digital, internet-based and smart development trends.

He called for accelerating innovative, safe and inclusive growth in cyberspace, and jointly striving for a brighter "digital future."

China is willing to work with countries around the world to take a historical initiative in the information revolution, and jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace, to make the internet better able to benefit the people and the world, Xi said.

A total of 20 projects on Tuesday received the World Internet Conference (WIC) Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology at a ceremony on the sidelines of the WIC Wuzhen Summit.

The projects, all deemed to have international significance, cover cutting-edge areas such as brain-inspired computing, embodied intelligence and the 6G network, and were divided into three groups namely basic research, key technology, and research and development.

Initiated by the WIC, the awards aim to recognize the most pioneering achievements in internet technology globally and promote international exchanges and cooperation in internet technology.

The winners of the World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award for enterprises have been announced at the opening ceremony of the event on Nov 20 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province.

This year, the award is divided into three categories: Social Contribution, Innovation Breakthrough, and Growth Potential, covering the fields of 5G, AI, chip design, cloud computing, and network security, have been honored with these prestigious awards.

The award honors individuals and enterprises for their exceptional contributions to the global internet sector. Seven individuals and 14 enterprises were recognized on Wednesday for their remarkable achievements in driving innovation and shaping the digital future.
