Actions: To nourish yin and moisten the lung, resolve phlegm and suppress cough.

Indications: It is indicated for syndrome of yin deficiency of the lung and kidney marked by cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis, dry and painful throat, vertigo, dysphoria with feverish sensation in chest, palms and soles especially in the afternoon, reddened tongue with little fur, thready and rapid pulse. It is applicable to tuberculosis, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasic hemoptysis, chronic laryngopharyngitis, spontaneous pneumothorax and others, which pertain to yin deficiency of the lung and kidney.

In clinic applications, use Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang and Bai He Gu Jin Tang to nourish yin clear away heat, remove toxic substance and diminish stagnation, in cases of lung cancer (primary bronchogenic carcinoma) due to yin deficiency and toxic heat, which manifested as dry cough with little or no sputum, or blood-stained sputum, or frequent hemoptysis, low fever, night sweating, dry mouth, yellow urine, constipation, red tongue with little or no coating, and thready and rapid pulse; in cases of AIDS due to warm pathogenic factor attacking the lung and damaging yin, which is manifested as sore throat, fever, cough without sputum, or blood-stained sputum, short breath, chest pain, rash, pruritus, emaciation, fatigue, night sweating, red dry tongue, thin and yellow coating and thready pulse.*

Directions: Take 8 pills each time, 3 times a day as a herbal supplement.

百合固金丸是根据传统名方“百合固金汤”制造的现代中药浓缩丸。百合固金汤出自《医方集解》引赵蕺庵方，此方原为治疗肺伤咽痛、喘咳痰血而没，方中 重用生地黄、熟地黄为君药，滋阴补肾，生地黄又能凉血止血；以麦冬、百合、贝母为臣，润肺养阴，且能化痰止咳；佐以玄参滋阴凉血清虚火，当归养血润燥，白 芍养血益阴，桔梗宜利肺气而止咳化痰；使以甘草调和诸药，与桔梗合用，更利咽喉。

本方常用于肺结核、慢性支气管炎、支气管扩张咯血、慢性咽喉炎、自发性气胸等属肺肾阴虚，虚火上炎者。
